Soap making workshop, Halifax
Poured, set, and yours by the time you leave.
Melt and pour: a prepared soap base is melted, coloured, scented and poured into a mould. It sets in the session, so this is one of the few things here you carry home finished rather than curing.
No lye, no caustic anything, and nothing that has to sit in a garage for six weeks.
Not on the calendar yet
No public soap making date is set.

What people ask about soap making
Every answer is in the page whether the row is open or not, so a search engine can read it.
Is this the kind with lye?
No. This is melt and pour, which starts from a soap base that has already been made, so there is no lye in the room and nothing caustic to handle. Cold process soap is the one that needs safety gear and six weeks of curing.
Can I use it straight away?
Effectively yes. It is solid before you leave and it is fully usable after a day out of the mould. There is no cure time to wait out.
Do I pick the scent and colour?
Yes, both, at the table and from what is there on the day. Most people make two or three bars and change something between them, which is the best way to find out what you actually like.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Say so when you book and an unscented, uncoloured base can be set aside for you. Fragrance is the usual culprit and it is the one thing you are choosing to add.
Can children do it?
For a private group, yes, with an adult at the table and the age said up front: the base is melted rather than boiled but it is still hot when it is poured. The public dates are written for adults.
How many bars do I get?
It depends on the mould and the session, and you will be told the number when you book rather than finding out at the end.
